Why This Weekend Is Worth the Drive

Central Florida's social calendar extends far beyond theme parks and convention halls. This October, one of the region's most anticipated automotive experiences returns to the rolling fairways of Mission Resort + Club in Howey-in-the-Hills.
The 2026 Festivals of Speed will bring together more than 175 exotic, classic and collectible vehicles for a weekend celebrating automotive design, craftsmanship, aviation, architecture and the distinctive lifestyle found throughout Lake County.
Scheduled for October 24-25, the experience offers considerably more than a traditional car show. Guests can choose from a private driving tour, a visit to the historic Howey Mansion, access to a remarkable collection of World War II aircraft, an evening cocktail reception and VIP hospitality overlooking the show field.
More Than an Exotic Car Show
The main event takes place on Sunday, October 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on the golf course at Mission Resort + Club.
More than 175 vehicles are expected to be displayed across the resort's manicured fairways, including vintage automobiles, contemporary exotics, performance cars, motorcycles and collectible models. The event is expected to feature vehicles representing manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, McLaren, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
More than 70 awards will be presented to selected vehicles. Guests can also enjoy live jazz, craft cocktails, culinary offerings, a cigar bar and optional VIP hospitality.
Rather than viewing the vehicles behind ropes in a conventional exhibition hall, attendees will experience them in a relaxed outdoor setting surrounded by rolling terrain, mature landscaping and the Spanish Colonial architecture of Mission Resort.
Saturday's Private Driving Experience

For collectors and driving enthusiasts, the weekend begins on Saturday, October 24, with a limited driving experience through Lake County.
The morning starts with breakfast and a private tour of the historic Howey Mansion, a restored 1920s Mediterranean Revival estate. Participating vehicles will then be positioned in front of the mansion for a commemorative group photograph.
From there, drivers will follow a curated route through Lake County's hills, lakeshore roads and scenic countryside. A special lunch and several planned stops are included.
One of the most distinctive parts of the tour is access to two private aircraft hangars containing a collection of restored World War II aircraft. The collection includes P-51 Mustangs, F4U Corsairs and other historically significant warbirds.
The experience is limited to 32 approved automobiles. Owners interested in participating must submit their exotic or classic vehicle for consideration. A portion of the tour's proceeds will support the American Honor Foundation and its work preserving American military and aviation heritage.

Advance purchase is required, and the VIP area is limited to guests age 21 and older. The official event page currently lists early-bird admission at $150 per person.
A Destination Worth Exploring
Mission Resort + Club is located at 10400 FL-48 in Howey-in-the-Hills, an area known for its rolling landscape, lakes and quieter residential setting.
The resort offers 176 guestrooms, suites and villas, along with four restaurants, two lounges, a poolside bar, tennis, pickleball, a marina, spa services and two championship golf courses.
Its best-known course, El Campeón, is one of the oldest courses in the South and stands apart for its dramatic elevation changes — an unusual feature in Central Florida. The resort's second course, Las Colinas, offers wide fairways across gently rolling terrain.
Visitors can attend the Sunday exhibition as a day trip or transform the event into a complete weekend with golf, dining, spa services and an overnight stay.
What This Event Reveals About Central Florida
Events such as Festivals of Speed reflect a side of Central Florida that newcomers do not always see immediately.
Beyond the region's internationally recognized attractions, Central Florida supports an expanding network of collector communities, private aviation interests, championship golf destinations, historic estates, waterfront enclaves and thoughtfully curated cultural experiences.
Lake County, in particular, offers a landscape that feels markedly different from metropolitan Orlando. Communities such as Howey-in-the-Hills, Montverde, Clermont and nearby areas combine access to the Orlando market with larger homesites, lakefront properties, golf communities and greater privacy.
For individuals considering a move to Central Florida, the quality of life is often defined by more than the residence itself. Access to recreation, dining, culture, transportation and meaningful experiences all contribute to choosing the right community.

Our Perspective

At ContuRosa Luxury Homes, we pay close attention to the events, venues and experiences that define life in the communities we serve — because they tell a story that price sheets and floor plans never can. Festivals of Speed is exactly the kind of weekend that captures why Lake County continues to draw discerning buyers: championship golf, a restored historic estate, private aviation history and a resort setting all within a short drive of Orlando, yet worlds away from its pace.
For clients weighing whether Lake County fits their lifestyle, we often point to weekends like this one. It's a firsthand look at the kind of recreation, culture and privacy available just beyond the city — the same qualities that make communities throughout Howey-in-the-Hills, Montverde and Clermont so appealing to buyers seeking more space, more water access and a quieter pace without giving up proximity to everything Central Florida offers.
